“How do I speak up in meetings without feeling like I don’t belong?”
On this International Women’s Day, I want to talk about something I hear from brilliant, capable women all the time.
Imposter syndrome is real. And while it isn’t ours alone to fix – because the system needs to change too – there are tools we can use to step into our power.
Here’s what I share with the incredible women I coach:
✨ Structure Your Message with Confidence
Before you speak, use a simple framework like Stepping Stones (past-present-future, problem-solution-benefit). A quick mental roadmap = more confidence in the moment.
✨ Land Your Ideas with Vocal Gravity
When we raise our pitch at the end of a sentence, it signals doubt. Instead, drop your voice down at the end of a thought – giving your words weight, presence, and authority.
✨ Know Your Unique Value
A simple yet powerful exercise: Imagine yourself as an animal. What qualities do you embody – strength, agility, wisdom? This taps into your natural presence and reminds you of what you already bring to the table.
✨ Take Up Space – Physically and Energetically
Imposter syndrome makes us shrink – hunched shoulders, crossed arms, small movements. Instead, expand. Breathe deeply. Stand tall. Own the space you’re in – because you deserve to be there.
This IWD, let’s commit to owning our voices – not just for ourselves, but for the women coming after us.
I’d love to hear – what’s helped you own your space and voice? Let’s share, lift, and support each other,
Emma 💜
