Meet The Team – Shree, Head of Sales

Background waves

Meet Shree – Our Head of Sales, and the leader behind our transformative communication programmes for businesses.

This week, we sat down with her to talk through her role at London Speech Workshop, what fuels her love for impactful communication, and her top advice for people looking to transform their communication…

1. What led you to work in communication training?

It’s a really interesting question because for as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to work in a field that combined my love for self development with the joy of helping other people. I just didn’t know how that could translate into a career!

Then one day, about a year and a half ago, I had an epiphany whilst on holiday in Cancun. And yes, it was as cinematic as it sounds (*cue the Eat, Pray, Love soundtrack*). Swimming in the middle of the Caribbean Sea, I was the most carefree I had ever been. I felt this huge wave of clarity sweep over me… I had finally realised what I was meant to do with my life (and believe me this had been a journey). But suddenly it all made sense –  my purpose was to be of service and make the world a better place.

What did this look like? I honestly had no idea. I just knew deep down that if I could find a way to merge these two passions, I’d find my true calling.

Shortly after that I came across London Speech Workshop and that’s when it all clicked. I was amazed to find somewhere that aligned so perfectly with myself, my values & my passion. I had found my Ikigai – eep!

2. Tell us more about your role at London Speech Workshop.

My role at London Speech Workshop is so exciting. As Head of Sales I get the chance to speak with so many wonderful clients from SMEs to large well-known Corporations. In my conversations, I discover and unpack each company’s culture and needs. From here, I create a programme best suited to each client, specific to their team’s skill gaps. The most fulfilling part of these conversations is seeing how our clients react to our product.

I’ve always believed that no matter the communication challenge, the solution can be found within our Four Pillar Framework. What’s special is that it’s not just limited to the workplace – I’ve even tested it with my own friends, and one of them had such a profound connection that it moved her to tears! It’s so incredible to see how deeply this resonates with people.

The joy and genuine astonishment from clients when they realise something like this exists is truly amazing. It’s clear to them that nothing else compares – our training is not only sticky, fun, and engaging, but it also delivers real ROI. We truly are one of a kind – bringing kindness and authenticity back into the workplace, but not at the compromise of profit or results. You can absolutely have it all!

3. How does the London Speech Workshop approach feel different to other professional environments?

London Speech Workshop is like no other company or environment I’ve ever experienced. People here are so unbelievably kind, stay authentic to who they are, all whilst being super competent and driven. I always pictured myself working in an environment like this, but never pictured it being attainable, until, well London Speech Workshop came along.

LSW truly leads by example, and you hear that phrase a lot, but very few businesses can actually follow through on that. I believe a lot of that is down to the people in our team, the culture we have created through our daily practices and our CEO, Emma. Emma continuously shows us what it means to be an honest and authentic leader.

On a Sunday, I look forward to work, to seeing my colleagues, working towards my purpose and enjoying myself at the same time. The Sunday Scaries have turned into Sunday Merries for me.

4. What is your favourite London Speech Workshop memory so far?

There have been so many fun moments with the team!

I think my favourite London Speech Workshop memory has to be a tie between two moments: the first being our Christmas Party – so much joy, appreciation and fun shared between our team and our coaches.

The second being when Emma joined myself and another colleague for an entirely spontaneous Karaoke night on a random Tuesday. This was so out of the blue and to me, showed a leader who was so happy to stand in her authentic self with no mask on – no matter her seniority. We had the best night and danced/sang the night away!

5. Why is great communication important to you?

Because great communication leads to greater connection.

I truly believe that once we can connect to other people, not only do we connect deeper to ourselves but we can bring out the best in others. This goes for anything from friendships, to relationships, and the work place. If you can really connect to the inner light within someone, the outcome is unbelievable.

I used to have a poster in my University room for years that said ‘Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.’ This is the same thing that happens when we learn how to truly connect with others – just like a single candle can light thousands more without losing its own flame, the right communication allows us to exchange our own thoughts and emotions, enriching everyone else involved without feeling drained!

6. Tell us about a time that really inspired how you communicate today.

Oh that’s a hard one – so many moments come to mind.

The first one that springs out at me is actually a moment from School. I used to really love subjects like Philosophy & Ethics and Sociology, because they encouraged real life discussions on topics that affected people. I was very lucky to have such a wonderful experience with some brilliant teachers, who opened the floor for each person to be heard and listened to. Watching the way some of my teachers communicated; listening with the intent to understand, creating space for others to open up all whilst having fun. That’s what communication is all about, bringing out the best in each other.

7. What do you love doing outside of London Speech Workshop?

I truly believe I have been blessed with the most incredible people in my life and I want to fill my days with as many experiences and memories as possible.

My friends and family will probably tell you that I have a life mantra that ‘life is for living’, so I would definitely classify myself as the multi-purpose friend – want to do a cooking class? I’m up for it! A concert or festival? I’m there! A holiday? I’ve already booked flights. A run? Well… maybe not everything.

8. And finally, what advice would you give to anyone looking to start communication coaching?

There is a famous quote by an Indian Philosopher called Osho who says, “Life begins where fear ends”. Wanting to improve your communication skills can be scary, you need to show vulnerability, admit where your gaps are and what you could improve on. But how wonderful is it that we can learn these skills?

Sometimes, you may not even know where to start, but what’s important to realise is not knowing where to start is a start! As long as you have a will to want to improve and better your own communication, someone else can give you a reassuring hand on the way there.

Don’t let fear stop you from reaching your own full potential – not for anyone else, but for you.
