Meet The Team – Vicky, Account Manager

Background waves

Meet Vicky – Our Account Manager, and the person behind enhancing our client journey and our incredible Lunch & Learn sessions.

This week, we sat down with her to talk through his role at London Speech Workshop, what fuels her love for impactful communication, and her top advice for people looking to transform their communication…

1. What led you to work in communication training?

I started my career as a qualified English and Drama teacher, then moved into the world of tutoring and education technology, so communication training felt like a natural next step!

After seven years of teaching English and writing in my spare time, I truly understand the importance of communication. I’m really pleased to be part of a team that supports individuals and organisations in building excellent communication skills

2. Tell us more about your role at London Speech Workshop.

I’m an Account Manager in the sales team, focused on building strong client relationships and supporting them throughout their communication journey.

I make sure the learning from our workshops is embedded effectively, and I’m always on hand to help if any other communication challenges come up. I also lead our Lunch & Learn Taster Sessions, which has been really exciting to launch and see grow!

Additionally, I like to dabble in a bit of ‘experimental outreach’, trying out creative ways to connect with new clients and spark fresh conversations.

3. How does the London Speech Workshop approach feel different to other professional environments?

The London Speech Workshop approach feels really different because we’re such a close knit team.

There’s genuine support on every level, and a real sense of trust; everyone is encouraged to play to their strengths, which means we can all thrive both individually and as a team. It creates a really positive, collaborative environment that’s quite rare in professional settings.

It’s also the first place I’ve worked that truly reflects its values at the core of everything it does, which makes it a genuinely fulfilling place to be.

4. What is your favourite London Speech Workshop memory so far?

The Christmas Party felt really special. I met many of the coaches for the first time, and there were so many personalised touches throughout the evening that made me feel truly welcome and part of the team. I especially loved putting together the quiz for everyone, particularly the baby picture round!

5. Why is great communication important to you?

I think strong communication is the key to success in every aspect of life. Want to be a good friend? You need to listen attentively and express your needs. Want to ace a job interview? You need to be clear, concise and engaging. Want to get the daily freebie at Pret? Facial expressions and tone of voice go a long way.

6. Tell us about a time that really inspired how you communicate today.

Teaching has definitely inspired my communication. To be effective, I had to be as clear as possible, and to keep students engaged, I had to be succinct and communicate with flair, so I’ve had a lot of practice in this area!

I’m also inspired by the writing of Ray Bradbury, who writes in a way that’s simple, vivid and beautiful. I really dislike convoluted speech, so anything that’s easy to process but still full of depth inspires me to communicate in the same way.

7. What do you love doing outside of London Speech Workshop?

My team knows I love playing Tag Rugby in my spare time, as I sometimes have to dash out of the office in my kit! It’s such a fun sport, and I’ve made so many great friends through it. The best part is we always end the match with a trip to the pub.

I also love planning fun activities, so I’m the social secretary for my rugby team (and for LSW too!). We regularly have curry nights, themed evenings, pub quizzes, karaoke, and we’ve even been on several holidays together. So far, we’ve been to Amsterdam and skiing twice, and this year we’re booked to go to Italy and Oktoberfest.

I also love skiing as I used to live in Milan for 2 years, so I would get away to the mountains almost every weekend. I just like going really fast and teaching myself little tricks. As well as the fresh air, views, hot chocolates, and lift snacks!

8. And finally, what advice would you give to anyone looking to start communication coaching?

The sooner you invest in communication coaching, the sooner it will benefit every aspect of your life. I use Genuine Connections tools to connect with friends, Navigating Conflict to solve problems, and Powerful Storytelling whenever I present at work.

Our coaches are the best in the business, and I’m constantly in awe of them. There’s someone to suit everyone, and they connect with people so naturally.

Becky is a sales expert and absolutely hilarious, Natasha is warm and full of infectious energy, and Jamie is effortlessly charming and flawless in his communication. They’re all utterly brilliant, and their coaching will have a huge impact on your life.
