A monotone voice, he found, comes across as flat and unengaging. But turn off the autopilot, shape the voice with light and shade, and use body language well, and the same words become far more engaging to listen to. That shift, from flat delivery to a landscape a listener wants to follow, is where the change began.

He’s gained a huge amount of confidence in how he speaks, and now genuinely enjoys speaking at meetings, able to communicate in almost any situation.
